Increase Produce Prices for Farmers

According to CIDA-LGSP, 2003, agriculture plays a significant role in the Philippine economy. About 40 percent of Filipino workers are involved, which contributes an average of 20 percent to the Gross Domestic Product. The main agriculture enterprise is crop cultivation which includes corn, rice, coconuts, sugarcane, and many more. However, in the last two decades, agriculture sector’s bright future suddenly dim. Visible decrease in products, low government support, and the most significant one that tend to have a big impact to our farmers, which is high production cost.

Farmers play a vital role in providing us food to eat in every day, yet they are the most neglected one. They sell their products, specifically rice, at a very low price and is being sold at a high cost where they also need to buy for their own consumption. Justice? Where is it? Blood, sweat and tears rolled down in every farmer’s body just so they can feed us, yet ironically, they can’t even feed themselves. Thus, we, created this social campaign for everyone to hear our voices that our farmers deserve more.

Let us all open our hearts, minds, and ears to hear their shout for help. Their hard labor for months deserves a reward. Making a change with regards to this could possibly save them. Happiness in their eyes right now is concealed with worry of having a tomorrow with an empty stomach, so let us help one another to let the hidden beautiful things shine once again.
